Rolex Ref. 6036 Yellow Gold Jean-Claude Killy Rolex, ?Oyster Chronographe, Anti-magnetique?, case No. 917821, Ref. 6036. Made in 1952. Very fine and extremely rare, water-resistant, anti-magnetic, 18K yellow gold wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers, triple date calendar and 18K yellow gold Rolex expanding Oyster bracelet with deployant clasp.

C. Two-body, solid, polished and brushed, screw-down case back and crown, inclined bezel, calendar adjusters in the band. D. Matte silver with applied yellow gold pyramidal indexes and Rolex logo at 12, outer minute/seconds divisions with fifth of a second and Arabic five minute/seconds numerals, subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers, outer blue painted graduation for the days of the month, apertures for the days of the week and the months (in Italian). Yellow gold dauphine hands. M. 13''', rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shockabsorber, self-compensating Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 36 mm. Thickness 14 mm. Approx. overall length 175 mm.

Rolex's Antimagnetic chronograph with triple date were produced in few examples from the mid 1940?s to the early 1960?s in 18K yellow or pink gold and in very few examples in stainless steel, with various dial designs and hand shapes and with 4 different references: - In the mid 1940?s: Ref. 4767 - From 1948 to 1951: Ref. 5036 - From 1951 to 1955: Ref 6036, so-called by collectors the "Killy watch" (after international ski champion Jean-Claude Killy, who first became famous in the 1960?s). This reference was produced in 170 examples in yellow gold, 144 examples in pink gold and very few in stainless steel. - From 1958 to 1962: Ref. 6236.
Jean-Claude Killy (born August 30, 1943) A French alpine skier and a triple Olympic champion. He was a World Cup champion in 1967 and again in 1968. Killy won the Triple Crown of Alpine Skiing with a sweep of all three gold medals at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, France, in the slalom, giant slalom and downhill events.
