Rolex Stainless steel Ref. 4048, ?Barilotto? Rolex, ?Oyster Chronograph Antimagnetic?, case No. 206300, Ref. 4048. Made in the 1940's. Very fine and rare, water-resistant stainless steel wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers, telemeter and tachometer with a stainless steel ?petites mailles? bracelet with deployant clasp.

C. Two-body, polished and brushed, concave lugs, screwed-down case back and crown. D. Matte silver with stainless steel bâton indexes and Arabic 12, subsidiary guillochee dials for the seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour register, outer 1/5th track and Arabic five minute/second numerals, outer most blue telemeter and tachometer scales. Stainless steel baton hands. M. Cal 13???, rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 35 mm. Thickness 15 mm.

Reference 4048 is an extremely rare model and is certainly the first chronograph with three registers and screweddown case back made by Rolex. This reference is also called ?Barilotto? by Italian collectors, due to the case shape.
