Notes

Only a few Daytona models with these features are known on the market.
Rolex Ref.6263 was launched at the beginning of the 1970s to replace the previous models. In order to improve the waterproofing, Rolex introduced various modifications differing from previous references such as the use of screwdown push buttons and a larger winding crown. Rolex Ref.6263 is available in stainless steel, 14K and 18K gold with two-toned dial and the presence of the ?Oyster? signature guaranteeing waterproofing. Models with Newman dial are produced only in early years, only on models in stainless steel were fitted with the Daytona signature in red. The caliber used is 727 based on caliber 72A from which it differs for the replacement of the balance and screws, going from 18000 to 21600 vibrations per hour. Usually Rolex Ref. 6263 with so-called Paul Newman dials are stamped with the words ?Rolex Oyster Cosmograph?. The present lot is stamped with the word ?Oyster? in the third line after the world ?Cosmograph?. This very rare feature makes this Rolex Ref. 6263 with Paul Newman dial extremely desirable for the finest Rolex Daytona collectors.
