Notes

The rarity of this watch consists in the red depth indication on the dial "50m/165ft". As far as we know, this is the first time a watch with such a dial is offered at auction. Antimagnetic chronograph with triple date. Produced in few examples from the mid 1940's to the early 1960's in 18K yellow or pink gold and very few in stainless steel, with various dial designs and hand shapes and with 4 different references : - In the mid 1940's: Ref. 4767 - From 1948 to 1951: Ref. 5036 - From 1951 to 1955: Ref 6036, called by collectors the "Killy watch" (World Ski Champion in the 1960's). This reference was produced in 170 examples in yellow gold, 144 examples in pink gold and very few in stainless steel - From 1958 to 1962: Ref. 6236. Similar watches are published in "Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches", by Osvaldo Patrizzi, Guido Mondani Editore, Genova, 2001, pp. 472-477 and 486.
