DIAM. 53 cm. Whilst of completely non-Rolex manufacture, the making of these wall clocks would have been officially sanctioned by the company for use within Pan Am offices and airport check-in desks. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s the Rolex Watch Company had a strong association with Pan-American airlines and in the early 1950s Rolex made a survey of Pan-American pilots and crews to discover what they required in a wristwatch. The data resulted in the launch in 1954 of the Ref. 6542 GMT-Master wristwatch.
