Notes

Vreneli
The “Vreneli” (in German and French), is the popular name for a range of gold coins of the Swiss Confederation. These coins are sometimes confused with the earlier issue (1883-1896) known as “Helvetia”. The latter were issued between 1897 and 1935 and demonetised on September 27, 1936.
Reissues in the “L 1935”, “1947” and “1949” denominations with the original designs of the 20 Francs were issued to supply the gold market from 1945 to 1949. The “L” in front of the 1935 year stands for “Lingot” to differentiate this reissue from the original, demonetised coin.
