Engraved on the back: IN MEMORIAM DR PAUL ALTWEGG - FRAUENFELD - 1884-1952.This watch was probably dedicated to one of the numerous who mountain climbers attempted to reach the "roof of the world".Nevertheless, History tells us that on 29 May 1953, Colonel Hunt (who later became Sir John Hunt) and the Tibetan Tensing reached the top of this mountain which is 8808 metres high.Ref. 6106Produced in the 1950's in stainless steel.
