Timothy Eaton (1834-1907) opened his first department store in Toronto in 1869. Over the years, the company opened stores throughout Canada, each publishing its own catalogue. By the early 20th century T. Eaton Co. Ltd. had become one of Canada?s largest retailers and an Eaton's catalogue could be found in most households across the country.
