Notes

Stern Ch., dial maker. Rue On Commerce 5. Circa 1907. His sons Jean and Charles succeeded him in the ,Socic%le Stern Freres in 1908. At first, they were making enamelled dials and then began the production of lacquered dials which caused the firm to develop considerably. However, in 1981, the then owners went bankrupt and had to dispose of the firm. It was taken up by Andre Colard, who had been with the firm since 1966, and renamed it Stern Creations SA. From the beginning of the 1990's, the firm has been in a growing phase and was able to expand by taking over various firms with activities in the same field. The Stern Creations Group today, led by Mr. Maximo Mane' a, has about 260 collaborators, is present in two countries (Switzerland and France), three Swiss cantons (Geneva, Vaud and Neuchatel) and is formed of six firms which supply high quality dials to the the leading names in the watch industry.
