Notes

Recently discovered in Zurich, this extremely rare, new old stock Zephyr reference 1039 is nothing short of a miracle. Preserved in new old stock condition the case, the dial and the bracelet (with its matching 1972 date code on the clasp) show no wear and still has some traces of where the original caseback sticker was. The dial bears the Khanjar logo and the punched warranty shows delivery in Oman through Ed. H Chouchani & Co. It is also interesting to note that the case lugs and bezel bear a special type of engraving different to any other seen and special hands. It is likely that these were all personalised upon order.

The watch comes further accompanied by letters between the original owner that wanted confirmation from Rolex that only 5 pieces were ever ordered for the Sheikh of Oman according to his information which Rolex politely declines to confirm citing confidentiality. Considering that no other example has ever appeared it is well possible that this information is in fact accurate. Probably the only opportunity to acquire a new old stock reference 1039 accompanied by its original documentation.
