Notes

When Malcolm Campbell broke the speed record of 445 km/h on the Daytona Beach circuit in 1935, it was with a Rolex on his wrist. The Daytona International Speedway was born in 1959. This 4 km long circuit hosts the most famous car races such as the Daytona 500 or the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the American equivalent of the 24 hours of Le Mans, of which the Rolex Daytona is the official watch.

The Daytona was thus consecrated as THE watch for car racers. After years of experimentation and researches, the reference 116520 was born. Launched in 2000, it is the first Rolex Daytona equipped with the caliber 4130, the first automatic chronograph movement, entirely produced and signed by Rolex.

The present watch is a superb example of a “color change” beige dial Daytona.
