The reference 116576 TBR represents one of the most lavish and exclusive interpretations of the Cosmograph Daytona, transforming Rolex’s legendary professional chronograph through the use of platinum and exceptional factory-set diamonds. Introduced within the platinum generation of the Daytona, the reference combines the familiar 40 mm Oyster case with a level of gem-setting reserved for some of the manufacture’s most prestigious creations.
Its defining feature is the bezel, factory-set with 36 baguette-cut diamonds individually selected and arranged to form a continuous circle around the dial. Unlike the tachymeter bezel traditionally associated with the Daytona, the diamond setting gives the watch an entirely different character while preserving the instantly recognisable proportions of the model.
The dial continues this exceptional treatment with further factory-set diamonds, contrasted by the three chronograph registers and applied hour markers. Against the cool, almost white tone of platinum, the diamonds give the watch a remarkably coherent appearance, considerably more understated in colour than Rolex’s better-known gem-set Daytona variations, yet exceptionally rich in execution.
Inside is Rolex’s self-winding calibre 4130, the manufacture’s celebrated in-house chronograph movement. Its integrated construction uses a column wheel and vertical clutch, while the chronograph layout remains one of the defining signatures of the modern Daytona. The substantial platinum Oyster bracelet completes the watch, combining brushed outer links with polished centre links and giving the reference the distinctive weight and presence associated with Rolex platinum models.
Dating from 2015, the present reference 116576 TBR occupies a special position within the modern Daytona family, combining one of Rolex’s most important sports watches with platinum construction and extensive factory gem-setting. Produced in far smaller numbers than conventional Daytona references, it is among the most distinctive and luxurious configurations of the six-digit generation.
