According to our researches, only 120 Rolex Submariner with ceramic bezel and engraved case back where made to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the GIGN, with the engraving of the identification number of the member on the case-back. Created in the early 1970s, the GIGN (Groupe d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale) is an elite unit of the French National Gendarmerie, specialized in crisis management and dangerous missions requiring special know-how, particularly in the following areas: counter-terrorism and large-scale banditry intervention, hostage rescue and protection of threatened sites and persons.
