Few versions of the GMT-Master II depart as dramatically from the model’s utilitarian origins as the reference 116759 SANR. Conceived as a full jewellery interpretation of Rolex’s celebrated travel watch, it combines the familiar 40 mm Oyster architecture with 18K white gold and extensive factory diamond setting, while retaining the practical GMT functionality that defines the collection.

The bezel is set with baguette-cut diamonds, their geometric arrangement providing a sharp contrast to the brilliant-cut stones covering the lugs. Rather than appearing as an addition to the watch, the gem-setting follows the architecture of the case and continues naturally into the bracelet.
Particularly impressive is the original 18K white gold Oyster bracelet, whose centre links are extensively pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds. The polished outer links remain exposed, preserving the visual structure of the traditional Oyster bracelet and creating a subtle contrast between polished metal and the brilliance of the stones.

Against this elaborate setting, the black dial remains remarkably restrained. Luminous indexes and hands preserve the clarity associated with the GMT-Master II, while the green 24-hour hand and matching green inscription provide the characteristic colour accents of this generation.
The watch is powered by the self-winding calibre 3186, featuring an independently adjustable local-hour hand, date and additional 24-hour indication. Dating from circa 2012, this example illustrates a fascinating and much less frequently encountered side of Rolex production, where the architecture of a professional sports watch becomes the foundation for an elaborate factory jewellery execution.
