ROLEX REF. 16618, "SUBMARINER", 18K YELLOW GOLD, LAPIS LAZULI DIAL
with deployant clasp Rolex 11618, gold submariner features with Lapis Lazuli dial and accompanied by ref 92908 Rolex bracelet is extremely rare in the market. In the 90s was an inventive era for Rolex as they began to merge various types of hard-stones with dial production. Rolex produced either onyx or lapis lazuli dials for ref. 16618 .Since the process of manufacture was very complicated that it's estimated that out of 10 dials only 2 can pass the rigorous Rolex inspection. To our best knowledge, only about 8 to 10 examples offered in the auction in the past 25 years The present lot is in excellent condition and is one of only a few Submariners with lapis lazuli dials to ever come to market. Christie's, Geneva, 14th November 2016, Lot 248, Sold for the amount of CHF 75,000; Christie's, Hong Kong, 28th May 2014, Lot 2673, Sold for the amount of HKD 650,000; Christie's, Geneva, 14th November 2011, Lot 174, Sold for the amount of CHF 81,000 18K yellow gold, self-winding, round-shaped, gentleman's wristwatch, water-resistant with screwed case-back, lapis lazuli dial.
