The present watch is an excellent example of a “Datejust” with stunning lapis-lazuli dial. Rolex experimented with many different hard-stones, as well as mother-of-pearl, coral, onyx, tiger’s-eye, and lapis-lazuli.
Due to their fragile nature and high manufacturing cost, as a high percentage of dials break during the production process, these watches are highly sought after.
