Notes

The present watch is an outstanding representation of the Rolex Sea-Dweller reference 1665, featuring the highly desirable Mark III “Double Red” dial, distinguished by its vivid red printing applied directly onto the black
surface, and its characteristic typography with the second line “SUBMARINER 2000” slightly smaller than the upper “SEA-DWELLER”. This version, produced circa 1973, remains one of the most sought-after configurations among vintage Rolex diving watches.

Developed in collaboration with COMEX (Compagnie Maritime d’Expertises), the Sea-Dweller was designed for professional saturation diving and introduced the helium escape valve, a revolutionary innovation that made it the ultimate tool watch of its era.
This watch exhibits a beautifully preserved Mark III dial, with crisp red printing, creamy patinated tritium indexes and matching hands, giving it a perfectly harmonious vintage appeal. The matte black surface has retained its depth and texture, testifying to the originality of the dial.

Powered by the automatic calibre 1570, officially chronometer-certified, it combines mechanical reliability with precision. The case retains strong proportions and a well-defined bevel, typical of untouched early 1970s examples.

Accompanied by its Rolex Service Papers, this piece has benefited from careful maintenance while preserving its authenticity and period character.

A superb and historically important example of the Rolex Sea-Dweller “Double Red” MK3, combining rarity, perfect proportions and documented provenance — a true cornerstone for any serious Rolex collector.
