Produced from the late 1980s to the late 1990s, the Reference 16700 marks the final evolution of the classic GMT-Master line before the introduction of the GMT-Master II. Retaining the simplicity and charm of the original dual-time design, it embodies the essence of Rolex’s professional tool watches , precise, legible, and enduringly functional.
The present example features a clean matte black dial with luminous hour markers and later Rolex service hands, reflecting the brand’s dedication to maintaining performance and reliability through careful servicing. The iconic red and blue “Pepsi” bezel, together with the robust Oyster case, evokes the golden age of aviation for which the GMT-Master was born.
