Notes

A outstanding example of the early Rolex GMT-Master reference 1675/8, one of the first gold iterations of the legendary GMT line. Introduced in the early 1960s, the reference 1675/8 marked the evolution from the bakelite-bezel 6542, while retaining the vintage charm of the no-crown-guard design and early brown dial configuration.

This watch is only 5 numbers away from the lot 163!

Cased in a warm 18K yellow gold case, this piece exudes vintage sophistication and period-correct elegance. The brown dial displays a rich glossy tone with beautifully aged luminous accents, harmonizing perfectly with the matching brown bezel insert. The combination of the gold case, brown tones, and Alpha hands gives this early GMT-Master an unmistakably refined and distinctive character.

Powered by the automatic Rolex calibre 1560, featuring the desirable “double butterfly” rotor, the movement represents one of Rolex’s earliest chronometer-grade self-winding mechanisms, a technical milestone that paved the way for the brand’s later GMT evolutions.

Accompanied by a Rolex document dated 2008, confirming a factory case cleaning, this example benefits from a traceable and well-documented service history, a rare and reassuring detail for collectors.

A magnificent and historically important example of the Rolex GMT-Master reference 1675/8 in 18K yellow gold, combining mechanical heritage, aesthetic harmony, and exceptional provenance. A true collector’s piece, and one of the most charismatic early gold GMT-Masters ever produced.
