Notes

During the 1950's, intercontinental flights appeared: aircrafts passed through several time zones and the need for pilots to know the time in both their departing and arriving cities became essential. Launched in 1954, the GMT-Master Reference 6542 was intended for pilots and flight crews of PAN AM, the largest airline of this period. Thanks to an additional hand and a rotating bezel, it was possible to instantly read a second time zone.
Reference 1675 succeeds to Reference 6542 in 1959 and was produced until 1980. It has a 40 mm. diameter round steel case with screw-down crown and case back. It is surmounted by a red and blue bezel, hence the name "Pepsi" This rare model is known amongst enthusiasts and collectors as the "Long E", as the horizontal bars of "E" in "Rolex" are longer than on the most common version of the dial - a detail not to be overlooked.
Accompanied by its box and service papers, this present example dates from 1967 and is still in very good condition.
