Notes

One of Rolex's first major customers was undoubtedly the Pan American World Airways, one of the largest airlines company, created in 1926. Rolex designed the "GMT-Master" in 1954, probably at the request of the "PAN AM". As a pilot's wristwatch it allowed for an instant reading of a second time zone, thanks to an additional hand and a blue and red bi-directional bezel. It was an essential watchmaking complication with the emergence of long-haul flights, and therefore an essential tool for travelers.

Succeeding to the reference 6542, the most iconic version is undoubtedly the reference 1675, launched in 1960 and in production for 20 years.

This piece present an exceptionally rare feature : the red signature on the dial of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum(born on July 15, 1949) who is the UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, as well as ruler of Dubai. The House of Maktum is the ruling royal family of Dubai and one of the six ruling families of the UAE.
