Notes

A superb early example of the iconic GMT-Master reference 1675, this watch belongs to the exceedingly desirable transitional production of 1963, distinguished by its Double “SWISS” signature positioned at six o’clock, accompanied by the discreet Underline, a rare hallmark indicative of Rolex’s shift to tritium.

Its gilt glossy dial presents itself in exceptional preservation, with brilliantly rendered gold graphics and cohesively aged luminous plots, radiating a striking contrast against the deep, mirror-like black lacquer. The gilt inscriptions crisp, perfectly executed reflect the artisanal dial manufacturing techniques of the early 1960s, long abandoned and now passionately sought after by the most serious collectors.

The original red and blue aluminium bezel insert displays a rich tone and correct period font, enhancing the watch’s unmistakable aviator character. Housed in a sharp 40 mm Oyster case, retaining strong lugs and excellent definition, this early GMT-Master is powered by the venerable calibre 1560, renowned for its reliability during the conquering of the skies by pioneering Pan American Airways crews.

Entirely correct and original throughout including hands, insert, crown and bracelet this example offers all the traits of the most collectible early 1675s, combining rarity, impeccable coherence, and outstanding condition.
A foundational landmark in the history of Rolex tool watches, this “Double Swiss Underline” Gilt stands as a crown jewel for any connoisseur of transitional-era GMT-Masters: a reference born to navigate time zones, and destined to define a legend.
