Notes

Considered as the most luxurious everyday dress-watch model of Rolex, the "Day-Date" was introduced in 1956. Having been worn by many US presidents, it was nicknamed the “president’s watch” and therefore was associated to empowerment and success.

The model has undergone numerous variations and technical evolutions. The "Day-Date 40" Ref. 228239 was introduced in 2015 at Baselworld, with a case bigger than the classic "Day-Date" (36 mm.), but yet not as large as the predecessor "Day-Date II" with its 41 mm. – which was launched in 2008. It is available in gold or platinum and powered by a new 3255 calibre. This caliber is both a COSC Certified Chronometer and a Superlative Chronometer.

Then, in 2018, the manufacture introduced a new meteorite dial option for this 18K white gold version. The indexes of this "Day-Date" are baguette-cut diamonds.

The significance of the reference number is as follows: 2282 stands for “Day-Date 40”, 3 for fluted bezel and 9 for white gold.
