Known to collectors as "Barilotto" meaning small barrel, the 4048 is one of the most attractive chronographs of the 1940's produced by Rolex with its unusual high and steep bezel reinforcing its presence. Usually found with a silver dial, this example has the most desirable and rare configuration featuring a wonderfully preserved black dial.
