Notes

The Rolex reference 4062 was produced in stainless steel, in stainless steel and gold and in 18K gold from 1942 to 1963. In the early 50s the lugs were larger, giving the watch a more robust appearance. This chronograph was met with great success and was produced for 21 years. This example has been kept in wonderful condition. Prone to corrosion, dials on this reference are often redone or damaged but this beautiful and rare black-coloured dial has been preserved in excellent condition. While the outer serial number has been polished over the years, it has kept the number 931 stamped on the inner case-back and is one of the only 3 known references 4062 with a black dial to have appeared at auction in the last 20 years. This watch was last purchased by the current owner at Orion Auction in 1989 in Monaco and has remained unworn since that purchase.
