Reference 4467 was launched in 1945 and was the first water-proof, self-winding, certified Chronometer wristwatch to display the date. This watch soon became the number one selling watch by Rolex. Precursor to the Datejust, reference 4467 (known to collectors as Ovettone), was made for 4 years only and in very limited quantities. Made in 18k yellow gold only, its characteristics were its large case size for the time, 36 mm.dimension and the fact that the movement required a large rotor that greatly increaded its size and wrist presence. Rarely found in pink gold cases, this example has been well conserved, still showing a clear hallmark with nicely preserved lugs and a nicely aged black dial. Probably the most aesthetically pleasing version of this reference.
