Notes

The stainless-steel case, with its early Cornino pointed crown guards, presents the sharp, purposeful geometry that defines the first generation of Rolex tool watches. Its proportions reveal the unmistakable character of the early 1960s Submariner, where functional intent meets restrained elegance. The rotating black bezel, fitted here with a later service insert, retains the clarity and purpose of the original design, standing as a quiet testament to decades of continued use and careful preservation.

The gilt dial, shimmering subtly beneath its domed crystal, captures the warmth and depth unique to the earliest 5513 examples. The inscriptions rise in glossy relief against the black lacquered surface, while the hour markers, framed by the familiar gilt contours and signed Swiss T <25, evoke the evolving luminous standards of the era. The hands, harmonizing with the dial’s golden printing, sweep across the composition with calm authority, completing a display that bridges functionality with a distinctly vintage allure.

Inside the case beats the reliable heart of the early Submariner line, a movement chosen for durability and precision, protected beneath the screw-down case back and unified by the robust Oyster construction. Together, the pointed crown guards, gilt dial, and mid-century proportions form a rare convergence of transitional features, embodying one of the most sought-after expressions of the Submariner’s early evolution.
