ROLEX REF 6099 Rolex, "Oyster Perpetual, Officially Certified Chronometer", case No. 791621, Ref. 6099. Made in 1951. Fine and very rare, tonneau-shaped, water-resistant, center- seconds, self-winding, 18K yellow gold wristwatch with a gold plated Rolex buckle.

Two-body, solid, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back and crown, engine turned bezel. Cream with applied yellow gold faceted dart indexes, outer minute/seconds track. Yellow gold luminous dauphine hands. Cal. 10 1/2''', rhodium plated, straight lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance spring, micrometric regulator. Dial, case and movement signed.

Property of the original family Known as the large bubbleback, these reference alongside its sister reference 6098 (which has a smooth bezel) was unusual at the time due to its large 36 mm case size. Consigned by the family of the original owner it has been conserved it remarkable condition with a mint dial and a deep crisp hallmark to the lug. Over the last 15 years Antiquorum has only ever sold 2 examples of this reference, one in gold and one in steel.
