Notes

The dial shows beautifully preserved black printing, including the “Rolex Oyster Perpetual” signature and applied gold hour markers, complemented by the original alpha hands. The luminous material remains intact and has aged to a warm, even patina. The honeycomb pattern adds extraordinary depth, catching light in a way that enhances the watch’s vintage character.

The two-tone case, combining stainless steel with a yellow gold bezel and crown, retains strong lines and proportions. The caseback is stamped 1.54, confirming production in the first quarter of 1954. Inside beats the automatic calibre A260, Rolex’s reliable early Perpetual movement, renowned for its robustness and precision.

This example is fitted with a later folded-link Oyster bracelet (ref. 7836, end-links 258), measuring approximately 185 mm, which complements the case perfectly while ensuring comfortable wear.

The reference 6202 holds a special place in Rolex history, produced in parallel with the early Turn-O-Graph models and sharing much of their design DNA, a transitional piece bridging the brand’s early automatic watches and the sportier tool models that followed.

Highly appealing for its two-tone configuration, honeycomb “Swiss” dial, and excellent overall condition, this watch is a superb representative of Rolex’s early postwar craftsmanship and style.

A rare and elegant vintage Rolex, showcasing a harmonious blend of steel, gold, and intricate dial artistry, a true connoisseur’s piece from the golden age of the Oyster Perpetual.
