The Rolex Oyster Chronograph 6234 is often regarded as the precursor to the famous Daytona and therefore is nicknamed by collectors “pre-Daytona”. Produced from 1955 to 1961, it offers many of the same features as the Daytona. During its 6-year production run, Rolex produced around 2,300 pieces in steel and less than 150 in 14k or 18k gold (approx. 500 pieces produced every year). Given how few pieces are produced in gold, a watch like this is exceptionally rare.
