Notes

Rolex, Ref. 6238
This reference, which collectors call the “Pre-Daytona” was produced in stainless steel, in 14K gold and 18K gold.
The Ref. 6238 is fitted with the calibre “72 B” or “722”.
The main differences between the “Daytona” and the “Pre-Daytona” is the colour of the dial (monochrome for the “Pre-Daytona” and coloured for the “Daytona”) and the tachometer scale on the dial for “Pre-Daytona” and on the bezel for the “Daytona” (full steel bezel or steel with black plastic insert printed in white).
The Ref. 6238 was published for the first time in the Rolex catalogue for the Italian Market in 1964 and remained there until 1968.
Its production is estimated at 3 600 examples from 1962 to 1967.
