Notes

Introduced in 1963, the Reference 6239 was the first model to bear the legendary “Cosmograph Daytona” name, the watch that would come to define the modern chronograph. Characterized by its engraved 300 steel bezel, contrasting subsidiary registers, and robust Valjoux 72-based calibre, the 6239 established the foundation of Rolex’s enduring racing heritage.

The present example features a service silver dial with black subdials, displaying the unmistakable charm of early Daytonas. Its tritium hour markers, in luminova maintain the watch’s period-correct appearance while ensuring optimal legibility. The result is a beautifully preserved example that captures both the authenticity and vitality of Rolex’s earliest chronograph design.

A cornerstone reference in the Daytona lineage, the 6239 remains a symbol of mechanical purity and timeless style, the genesis of an icon that continues to define the spirit of performance and precision.
