Notes

The present example of the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 6239 is an exceptional and early representation of the legendary Paul Newman dial configuration, featuring the highly desirable 300-unit bezel and the classic white dial with contrasting black subsidiary registers. Of particular note, the watch retains all its original tritium lume plots in remarkable condition, together with its matching tritium-filled hands. It is furthermore offered with its original riveted Oyster bracelet, completing an ensemble of impressive authenticity and coherence.

The reference 6239 occupies a central place in the history of the Daytona, being the very first Cosmograph reference and the foundation upon which the exotic Paul Newman dial was introduced. The combination of the 300-unit bezel, the distinctive red outer minute track, and the original luminous elements exemplifies the defining features that have come to symbolize the golden age of Rolex chronograph design.

Admired for its balanced proportions and enduring aesthetic, the 6239 Paul Newman remains one of the most iconic and sought-after wristwatches of the twentieth century. The present example, preserved in original condition and fitted with its period-correct riveted bracelet, stands as a remarkable testimony to the earliest and most celebrated era of the Daytona legend.
