Notes

Since 1959, Rolex has championed motorsports, sponsoring the legendary 24 Hours of Daytona—now known as the Rolex 24. In 1963, the marque introduced its iconic Cosmograph Daytona, named for the famed Florida racing beach.

The Reference 6241, produced between 1966 and 1969 with an estimated 2,000 pieces only, represents the pinnacle of early Daytona design. Featuring a Valjoux 722-1 movement, black acrylic bezel, pump pushers, and 6mm crown, this manual-wind chronograph epitomizes Rolex’s golden age of horology.

The present example showcases the highly coveted “Paul Newman” dial—distinguished by bold Art Deco numerals, contrasting white sub-dials, and the red “Daytona” signature and is preserved in excellent condition with a strong case, beautifully original black dial, and accompanied by a Rolex 7205 Oyster riveted stainless steel bracelet with 71 endlinks, a combination that represents a true rarity among surviving examples.

The 6241 “Paul Newman” remains one of horology’s most legendary icons, representing the perfect synthesis of racing heritage, artistic design, and enduring collectibility—where steel meets soul.
