Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back, buttons and Triplock winding crown, tachometer graduation on the acrylic bezel to 200 units per hour. Bicolor black and silver with applied white gold baton indexes and luminous dots, outer 1/5th seconds track, subsidiary guilloché dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers. White gold luminous baton hands. Cal. 727, rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance with Microstella regulating screws, adjusted to 3 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating Breguet balance spring.

Dial, case and movement signed. DIAM. 37 mm. THICKNESS 13 mm. Approx. overall length 185 mm. The Sigma dial variation of the famous and popular so-called 'BIG RED' DAYTONA is perhaps the rarest variant and was fitted with white gold batons instead of steel as indicated by the two symbols either side of the Swiss signature. It is generally accepted among collectors that the Big Red Daytona with Sigma dials were produced within the 4 million to 5.5 million serial number range; with 2 versions available, the MK1 produced from 4-5 million and MK2 within the 5-5.5 million serial. This example offered with 5.3 million serial features the MK2 Big Red Sigma dial. Property of a West Coast Collector
