Notes

An exceptionally rare and iconic stainless steel chronograph wristwatch with cream exotic dial, pump pushers, and tachymeter bezel, known universally as the “Paul Newman Daytona.”

Few watches have transcended horology to become symbols of cultural mythology. The “Paul Newman” Daytona is one such legend. Introduced in the late 1960s, the exotic dial variant of the Cosmograph was initially overlooked, its Art Deco numerals and contrasting sub-dials deemed too daring for the era. Yet time, and the wrist of Hollywood’s quintessential icon, transformed it into one of the most coveted wristwatches ever made.

The present example, a transitional Ref. 6264/6239, represents the final expression of the pump-pusher era, bridging the raw charm of the early Daytonas with the technical refinement that would follow. Its cream dial, gently aged to a warm patina, radiates an elegance and authenticity that no restoration could ever reproduce. The black sub-dials and red “Daytona” signature provide a thrilling visual harmony, perfectly encapsulating the bold, rakish spirit of the 1960s.

To collectors, the Paul Newman Daytona is not merely a chronograph, it is an emotion rendered in steel. A watch that embodies rebellion, charisma, and the enduring allure of timeless design.
