ROLEX, REF. 6265, THE GREEN OMANI SWORD, TROPICAL SUB-DIALS, GOLD Rolex, "Oyster, Superlative Chronometer, officially certified, cosmograph" case no. 5060054, ref. 6265. Made for the Sultan of Oman in 1977. Very fine and extremely rare, water-resistant, 18K yellow gold wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers and tachometer.

Three-body, solid, polished and brushed, screwed down case back with dedication inscription, buttons and crown, tachometer graduation on the gold bezel to 200 units per hour. Bicolor champagne and tropical brown with applied yellow gold faceted baton indexes and luminous dots, outer minutes/ seconds divisions, subsidiary dials for the seconds, 12-hour and 30-minute registers. Luminous yellow gold baton hands. Cal. 727, rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 3 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws.

Ordered by the Shah of Iran often as gifts, the Rolex Daytonas featuring the Khanjar logos are amongst the most desirable sport Daytonas available today. Found sometimes with the swords in red, the green ones seem to be even rarer. This particular example features brown subdials and white color font on the subdials which enhances even further its desirability. In fact, according to our research only one other example has ever surfaced to the market with similar characteristics although slightly different and can be seen in the Daytona Legend book by Pucci Papaleo, p.505 This particular example has never been seen on the market until now. The uncle and aunt of the current consignor gifted him the watch for his degree in 1990. His uncle, who was an extensive traveler, purchased the watch during a business trip in Oman circa 1989 for the WEIGHT of gold. A truly historical Daytona that any Rolex collector would love to own.
