Notes

In the 1950s, Rolex produced the Datejust Ref. 6305 almost exclusively in steel and yellow gold, rendering full 18K white gold examples extraordinarily rare. White gold was seldom chosen for this reference, resulting in only a tiny number of documented pieces. This 1953 “Big Bubbleback” (Ovettone), case no. 79765 with Cal. A296, survives in extremely raw, original condition — a survivor from an era when such precious-metal executions were produced in minuscule quantities. Its scarcity elevates it among the rarest early Datejusts, a genuine collector’s grail that captures Rolex’s selective use of white gold during the model’s formative year
