As Rolex collectors know, due to some end customers being worried about the radioactive nature of the bezel of the 6542 GMT and radium being applied to the indexes, Rolex recalled some watches and proceeded to change some dials preventively. This is the case on this watch as the accompanying letter dated 1960 from Rolex states: "It is hereby certified that the dial of your Submariner have been tested and do not contain any substance in violation of AEC regulations. Dial has been changed."
