Notes

The reference 6542 marked the launch for Rolex in the world of pilot watches in 1954. Featuring a fragile bakelite bezel (that was prone to cracking and also were recalled due to high radiation readings), the GMT-Master had some dial variations depending on their production date varying from red to pink some with depth rating. Not featuring any crown guards, some 6542 were prone to dial discolouration such as this example changing to regular black look to a beautiful brown-caramel color. Featuring a well preserved case still with nice thickness to the lugs, its correct 1066 butterfly caliber, a beautifully aged dial, perfect matching patina to the hands and indexes, a truly great example of the 6542 made in its last year of production.
