Notes

It is any collectors dream to find watches that have remained in fully original condition and this 6542 ticks all those boxes. Purchased new in 1957, the owner was involved in a private charity that helped the less fortunate in life by providing them with household and every day items. He only wore his beloved GMT and never purchased any other watches through his lifetime. He passed away in 1979 and the watch was then put in a drawer where it has stayed since. Inherited by his sister, who is also actively involved in charity in Cyprus, the family decided to put the watch up for auction to help further good causes. The watch remained exactly like the day the owner purchased it (apart from the riveted bracelet that may have been changed slightly later as it is dated 1965). The watch does have some scratches from wear but more than likely has not been detailed in over 30 years. The watch has conserved a nice bevel on the side of the case, the original bakelite insert has aged wonderfully and more importantly is free from any cracks, the hands as well as the dial have acquired a perfect matching patina from the years and even the original crystal has been kept on despite its crazing, a testament to its wonderful state of conservation.
