Notes

Another newly discovered timepiece by Rolex, the reference 8029 is extremely rare with only a very few examples having appeared at auction in the last 20 years. Housed in an oversize 38 mm case, the equivalent to the Patek Philippe reference 570, this examples differs from most having rather than the usual Precision signed dial, an officially certified chronometer dial confirmed by the chronometer signed movement featuring a super balance. Amazingly the caseback still shows the Rolex crown and serial number as well as a faint Serpico Y Laino inscription which might explain the elegant pink gold indexes and hands, a color much favoured by the South American market at the time. Without a doubt one of the most important time only oversize stainless steel Rolexes ever produced.
