The reference 8171 has been for years one of the most sought-after models by collectors. It was produced from 1949 through 1952 in yellow and pink gold as well as stainless steel. This watch was very avant-garde for its time because of its diameter (38 mm.), making it a very modern piece today; an extremely rare collectors’ item. On the back that is exposed to the elements, the Rolex crown and serial numbers are often erased unlike this model where both can still be distinguished.
