The current lot is referred to as the ?Everest? made for the Canadian market in the late 1950?s. In order to prove the reliability and durability of their watches, Rolex often partnered with world-renowned explorers and supported their challenges in extreme weather conditions. This model is an homage to the unprecedented expedition made by Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay when they had conquered the summit of Mount Everest in 1953 while wearing their Rolex wristwatches.
