For a long time, French cased Rolex watches remained a mystery. Scholars often thought that the original cases had been melted and then re-cased in France later; the mystery was solved when a similar triple date chronograph was sold in 2017 at Christies Geneva (Lot 195, November 13, 2017) . The watch came accompanied by a copy of a Cartier invoice from 1953 and the watch was later submitted to Rolex in 2013 at which point an overhaul proposal was established. This case number is less than 1500 case numbers away and despite having another case shape is the exact same configuration. A wonderful opportunity to acquire one of the iconic Rolex watches with a French made case.
