ROMILLY "DIANA & ENDYMION" Romilly, à Paris. Made circa 1765. Fine, 20K vari-colored gold and rose-cut diamond-set pocket watch.
Two-body, Louis XV, the bezel chased and engraved with flowers and scrolls, the pendant set with a large rose-cut diamond, the back with a chased varicolored gold scene depicting Diana and Endymion with Cupid, chased and engraved scroll border. Convex white enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and large Arabic five-minute numerals. Rose-cut diamond-set Louis hands. 37 mm., matte gilt, cylindrical pillars, fuse and chain, verge escapement, three arm balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved continental cock with steel endplate, silvered regulation dial, formerly repeating on a bell in the back of the case (repeat work now removed). Movement signed.
