SANDOZ PENDULETTE RUSTIQUE Gustave Sandoz, Paris, No. 9048. Made circa 1890. Very fine and highly unusual, miniature, gilt-brass naturalistic style, 8-day going carriage clock. Accompanied by the original travelling case (distressed) and key.

Multi-piece, the pillars in the form of tree trunks, the front two with a cockerel on one side and an owl on the other representing morning and night, naturalistic base and top, the sides with wood-effect brass panels, oval glazed aperture in the top to view the escapement, hinged branch-effect handle. D. Ivory-colored annular enamel chapter ring with gilt Arabic numerals, outer dot minute divisions, gilt-brass wood-effect center and mask to match the sides of the case. Blued steel hands. M. Rectangular gilt-brass, going barrel, lateral lever escapement on a platform, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Case and movement signed. DIM. 8 x 5.8 x 5.2 cm. Excluding handle.
