TIFFANY MINUTE REPEATER - A GIFT FROM AMERICAN PHILANTHROPIST KATRINA TRASK Tiffany & Co., Swiss, No. 78606. Made circa 1915. Very fine, thin, minute-repeating, 18K yellow gold, keyless, hunting cased pocket watch presented by philanthropist and author Katrina Trask in 1919.

Four-body, "demi-bassine," polished, the interior of the back engraved "the present moment is a point in eternity". Hinged gold cuvette with engraved dedication "Dr. Merrill from Katrina Trask, August 1919. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute track, large subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands. 17''', rhodium plated, 31 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band.

Dial, case and movement signed. DIAM. 47.5 mm. Katrina Trask (May 30, 1853 - January 8, 1922), also known as Kate Nichols Trask, was an American author and philanthropist. She married Spencer Trask, a prominent Wall Street banker and financier, on November 12, 1874. Her husband was a director of several railroads and the president of the Edison Illuminating Company of New York. He also helped plan and finance the reorganization of the New York Times in 1896.
