Fine and extremely rare, stainless steel, self-winding, "tonneau"-shaped, diver’s wristwatch, water-resistant with screwed case-back, square crown guards, black "gilt" dial and chapter ring, with centre-seconds.

Tudor, Ref. 7928
Tudor, long time considered to be the sister company of Rolex, was in fact founded in 1926 by the widow of Philippe Hüther, on behalf of Hans Wilsdorf, who bought it in 1936. On March 6, 1946, the company “Montres Tudor S.A.” was officially registered. Since then, it has followed in the footsteps of its predecessor, as its new motto “Born to dare” emphasises.
The first Tudor “Submariner” was the Ref. 7922, first produced in 1954, followed by the Ref. 7928 introduced in 1959. It was the first model to be designed with protective crown guards which went through a lot of variation. It was the first Tudor “Submariner” with water-resistance to 200 m / 660 ft. The first models were fitted with square crown guards, an extremely rare feature you will find on this lot.
On over 30 years of archives, only five Tudor “Submariner” Ref. 7928 with square crown guards were auctioned by Antiquorum.
