Ulysse Nardin, Locle & Geneve, C/n onotrMtre, No. 7581, case decorated by C.H. Jacot, specially made for the Chicago Exhibition of 1893. Extremely fine and unique 18K pink gold and silver, keyless minute repeating pocket chronometer with chronograph, in original leather shaped fitted box "AG 1881" Brevete S.G.D.G., accompained by a reproduction of the original Medal awarded at the Exhibition.

C. Four body, shaped, the silver band chased in high relief decorated by C.H. Jacot, with acanthus leaves, chimxra and cherubs, gold finials, winding crown and bow, the silver cover with gold border, chased in high relief with an allegory paying tribute to Labour and hldustry with the inscription: Gloria Labor. The back decorated en suite with symbols of arts. Hinged gold cuvette. D. White enamel with Breguet numerals, outer Arabic minute and chronograph rings and sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. Glazed 20"', rhodium plated, "fausses cotes" decoration, 33 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Repeating on gongs with slide on border of the bezel. Chronograph with visible work, push piece in the band. Signed on the dial, case and movement. In very good condition. Dim. 115 x 90 mm.

Notes

Made for the Chicago Exhibition of 1893 as a chronometer, this watch was, at the request of the owner, fitted by Ulysse Nardin in March 1906, with the present movement No. 12468, emproved with a minute repeating train and chronograph. This watch is illustrated in the booklet published by Ulysse Nardin in 1966 for the 120th anniversary of the Company, p. 13, and in Grands Artisans tie la Chronometric by A. Chapuis, fig. 132, p. 202.
